New Project (Full-Scale)USACity of New YorkEV Charging
Published on September 5, 2024
New York City will install 600 new curbside electric vehicle chargers across the five boroughs with funding from a $15 million federal grant, Mayor Eric Adams announced. The Level 2 chargers, which can fully charge an EV in about 10 hours, will be installed primarily in disadvantaged and low-income neighborhoods, significantly expanding the city’s EV charging network. The initiative is part of a broader effort to transition municipal and for-hire fleets to electric power under the “Green Rides” initiative. Additionally, 32 solar-powered charging ports will be built across eight city-owned parking lots managed by the Parks Department. Specific locations and timelines have yet to be announced.
