Portsmouth Water and Kraken Launch Smart Meter Initiative

Portsmouth Water has partnered with Kraken, Octopus Energy’s tech subsidiary, marking the platform’s debut outside the energy sector. This collaboration will digitise the water sector and let Portsmouth oversee its 324,000 customers using Kraken. This move aims to start Portsmouth’s smart meter rollout, focusing on reducing consumption in a water-stressed region. With Kraken’s platform, customers can manage their smart meter installation appointments and gain insight into their consumption, helping identify leaks. This venture sets the stage for installing 43,300 smart meters by 2030, targeting water savings of 2.5Ml/d.
