The City of Jaca Seeks €1 Million for Smart Water Management Project

The Jaca City Council has applied for nearly €1 million in funding from Spain’s PERTE Water Digitalization Program to support the JACA SMART WATER project. The initiative aims to revolutionize water management in the municipality through digitalization and advanced technologies, enhancing efficiency, sustainability, and transparency.

The project should benefit Jaca and 32 surrounding rural areas by providing residents with improved access to efficient and sustainable water management systems. Key actions include:

  • Implementing leak detection systems
  • Digitizing water supply and sanitation networks
  • Developing emergency plans for droughts and floods.

Additionally, the project will introduce smart meters, energy audits, and cybersecurity measures to protect water infrastructure.

JACA SMART WATER seeks to address challenges such as water loss, climate change impacts, and the need for innovative resource management. By creating a digital platform for water cycle management, the project aims to optimize resource use, reduce environmental impact, and ensure compliance with environmental standards.
