Veolia and French AI group Alcom have launched Ekydra, a joint venture focused on developing digital tools to improve water utility performance. The initiative aims to address key challenges in the sector, including water conservation through AI-powered leak detection, energy and carbon footprint reduction using optimization algorithms and 3D modeling, and improved wastewater flow management to help mitigate pollution risks during extreme weather.
By combining Veolia’s water service expertise with Alcom’s patented AI technology, Ekydra intends to offer scalable solutions for municipalities, industries, and public utilities. The venture also plans to collaborate with startups and universities to support the development of sustainable water technologies.
