Vizzia, a Paris-based startup founded in 2021 by Katrin de Proyart and Alexandre Leboucher, has raised €16 million in a round led by Headline, with participation from Sistafund. The company, which won The Smart Deal Startup Competition powered by Kurrant at the Smart City Expo in Barcelona last year, develops mobile 4G/5G video surveillance systems designed for municipalities. Its technology focuses on detecting illegal dumping and suspicious behavior while remaining GDPR-compliant and hosted on sovereign servers.

Already adopted by more than 200 French municipalities, including Le Havre, Avignon, Hyères, and Béziers, Vizzia’s solutions have processed over 110,000 events in the past year, with some towns reporting up to a 90% reduction in illegal dumping. Unlike other startups in the sector such as Orasio, XXII, or Veesion, Vizzia emphasizes a low-tech approach based on motion detection and image comparison, allowing faster deployment and reduced maintenance.

The funding will help the company strengthen its presence across France and prepare for expansion into Germany, the UK, Spain, and Italy. Vizzia also aims to develop collaborative software for municipalities to improve public safety and manage urban cleanliness.

This latest step reflects a wider European movement toward sovereign technology solutions that offer local authorities alternatives to American systems while aligning with the continent’s digital independence strategy.
