Netherlands’ HULO Secures €2.3 M to Advance AI-Powered Water tech Solutions

Dutch water-technology startup HULO has raised €2.3 million in a seed funding round to accelerate global expansion of its AI-powered leak-detection platform.

The round was led by VP Capital and co-led by LUMO Labs, with participation from venture and regional investors including Vanagon, Rabobank, Frisian Development Fund (FOM) and the NEW‑TTT Fund.

Founded in 2021 by Robbert Lodewijks and Frank van der Hulst and based in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, HULO offers a software-as-a-service platform that analyses pressure and flow data already collected by water utilities to detect, localise and prioritise leaks and anomalies  without requiring new hardware installations or district-metered areas.

With the new capital, HULO plans to strengthen its capabilities in AI, network analytics and cybersecurity, and to accelerate deployment in focus markets including Latin America beyond its current activity in the Netherlands, Europe and the UK.

Water infrastructure is under pressure globally: roughly 30 % of treated drinking water is lost before reaching end users owing to ageing networks and undetected leaks. HULO’s founders and investors see an opportunity to shift from reactive leak-hunting toward data-informed proactive management.
