Interface, a San Francisco-based startup building an AI-powered operations platform for the energy sector, has secured a US $3.5 million seed funding round. The round was led by Defy.vc, with participation from Precursor Ventures, Rock Yard Ventures, Entrepreneurs First, Transpose Platform and a group of angel investors.
Interface’s core product acts as an AI-driven operational safety and compliance layer for heavy-industry and energy companies. The platform integrates with existing documentation sources, such as procedures, manuals, and P&IDs, and turns them into a dynamic, AI-assisted system of record. This enables field teams and control-room operators to access accurate, up-to-date information quickly, reducing reliance on error-prone legacy processes.
Interface’s platform reportedly has already flagged more than 10,800 errors or improvement points at a major Canadian energy company across three sites, a task that would have been extremely time-consuming and costly if done manually (estimated at over US $35 million and two to three years).
