UK Launches Smart Street Lamps Initiative

The UK government is investing £1.3m in the Smart Infrastructure Pilots Programme to test smart street lamps in six areas, including Cambridgeshire and Tees Valley, which will house EV charging hubs and enhance wireless coverage, aiming to improve mobile connectivity and offer public Wi-Fi. With matched funding from local authorities and service providers, the total investment exceeds £4m. This initiative supports the integration of advanced wireless infrastructure to realize the benefits of 5G and address the demand for wireless services.
