Bahreins’ Northern Governorate Municipality has commenced the deployment of sensor-equipped waste containers as part of a broader initiative to enhance waste management efficiency, municipal sources confirmed.
In the first phase, 60 smart containers are being distributed, with plans to eventually replace all existing containers across the Governorate. The new system enables real-time monitoring of container locations, fill levels, and distribution patterns, facilitating optimized waste collection routes, efficient resource allocation, and proactive maintenance.
Meanwhile, the Southern Governorate Municipality is also modernizing its waste management infrastructure. The initiative includes replacing metal waste containers with eco-friendly alternatives integrated with GPS tracking. This upgrade aims to improve operational efficiency and enhance cleanliness in residential areas.
