Zurich-based ABB Group, known for its expertise in electrification and automation, has announced its acquisition of Sensorfact, a Utrecht-based energy management company. The deal, expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, aims to enhance ABB’s digital energy management portfolio. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sensorfact specializes in AI-driven, hardware-enabled SaaS solutions designed to help manufacturers digitalize operations and reduce energy consumption. The company utilizes plug-and-play sensors to monitor machine-level energy usage, connecting to a smart software platform that analyzes data and provides tailored energy-saving recommendations. With over 250 employees across Utrecht, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Berlin, Sensorfact serves more than 1,900 customers in Europe.
The acquisition aligns with ABB’s strategy to integrate big data and AI into energy management, enabling more efficient and intelligent electrical distribution. By combining forces, ABB and Sensorfact aim to accelerate the adoption of digital solutions in manufacturing, helping businesses reduce costs, lower carbon emissions, and optimize production.
This acquisition is expected to strengthen ABB’s position in the energy management market while expanding Sensorfact’s reach into new global markets.
