The City of Boulder will replace 4,400 streetlights with energy-efficient LED fixtures in a $9.2 million project led by CLI Services a specialist in municipal LED conversions.. Funded primarily by the Community, Culture, Resilience, and Safety Tax, the upgrade aims to cut energy costs and improve safety.
Smart controllers will enable automatic outage detection, replacing the old resident-reporting system. The new LEDs will focus light on roads and sidewalks, reducing waste and enhancing visibility. The city expects annual savings of $1 million after seven years.
Work will take 15–18 months, with additional funding from the Transportation and Mobility department.
