The City of Segovia will receive a €3.1 million interest-free loan over ten years from Spain’s National Energy Efficiency Fund to upgrade public lighting in the historic walled area.

The project, selected under the second call of the IDAE’s municipal lighting renovation programme (under the Ministry for Ecological Transition), will overhaul 1,211 lighting points and add 109 more across key zones including the Cathedral, the Aqueduct Avenue, and surrounding neighborhoods.

The upgrade includes LED conversion, smart lighting controls, and modernized electrical systems. It complements the broader ImpulSE project by SOMACYL, which is investing €6.5 million in public and artistic lighting, and a separate €1.05 million plan for ornamental lighting of the Aqueduct. Vendor details have not been disclosed.
