The city of Cosenza in Italy has formally begun a large-scale energy efficiency program under a project financing agreement with Renovit S.p.A., part of the CDP and SNAM groups. The initiative includes installing over 630 kWp of photovoltaic systems on municipal buildings and 310 kWp on the stadium and bus station, completing LED relamping across 26 public buildings, deploying 2,037 new street lamps, and adding 10 electric vehicle charging stations.
The project, divided into two phases, also covers heating system upgrades in schools and municipal buildings, as well as a new maintenance service with a toll-free reporting line.
A remote-control system will be introduced to enable continuous monitoring and rapid intervention in case of failures. Authorities expect the measures to cut energy consumption, reduce CO₂ emissions, and improve urban sustainability.
