In France, the community of Tampon is replacing 4,775 lights with remote-controlled, low-temperature LED lamps, for €6.6 million. The project aims to slash energy use by about 90%, to significantly reduce carbon emissions and energy bills. The lighting technology, using warm white light of 2200 °K, is designed to minimize the impact on wildlife and flora. The project, expected to be completed by the end of 2023, also includes a night-time dimming strategy to reduce light pollution, with the selected lights optimized to avoid glare, intrusion, and atmospheric halo effects.
