In the UK, Essex & Suffolk Water utility has selected broadband and digital service provider Connexin to oversee the rollout of smart meters in its supply regions. The project will lead to the deployment of a LoRaWAN network to connect the meters to the head-end system. The plan is to install 164,000 water meters by 2025, a number that is to go up to 612,000 by 2030 and one million by 2035. With the 15-year scheme, the utility is set to improve efficiency, reduce consumption and leakage as well as support environmental goals.
