Published on January 17, 2024

South Bronx has launched its first community-owned and operated air quality monitoring network in response to ongoing air pollution issues. The initiative, led by South Bronx Unite in partnership with QuantAQ, will see 25 sensors being deployed across Mott Haven and Port Morris to provide continuous, high-quality local air pollution data. With the project, supported by Columbia University, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and WE ACT, the aim is to enhance understanding of air quality impacts on community health. These sensors will monitor a range of pollutants and the data will be publicly available, assisting in policy-making and community awareness.
