DALI, TALQ and Zhaga Announce Collaboration

Published on October 23, 2024

DALI, TALQ, and Zhaga have announced a significant collaboration aimed at unifying data streams for smart street lighting solutions. This joint effort seeks to enhance communication between interoperable components in outdoor lighting systems, offering cities and manufacturers a streamlined approach to managing and controlling smart lighting infrastructure. By aligning their respective international standards, the three organizations aim to simplify integration and reduce complexity for public and private entities, making investment decisions more sustainable and future-proof.

The DALI Alliance focuses on digital lighting control specifications, including the widely recognized DALI-2, D4i, and DALI+ certification programs. TALQ is known for its globally accepted standard for outdoor lighting and smart city applications, while Zhaga creates interface specifications for LED components, fostering innovation and compatibility across manufacturers.

This partnership will work towards a unified data stream solution, enabling better data exchange across smart city systems, from lighting to waste management and environmental sensing. By creating interoperable solutions, the collaboration reduces fragmentation, improves supply chain security, and supports sustainable infrastructure development for cities.

Key figures from the organizations emphasized the importance of this move. Paul Drosihn of the DALI Alliance highlighted the role of D4i certification in enabling interoperability and gathering critical data for smart city applications. Simon Dunkley of TALQ pointed out that this partnership will make investment decisions for cities and operators more sustainable, while Heinrich Thye of Zhaga expressed enthusiasm for creating a more interconnected and efficient future for smart lighting through this collaboration.

The collaboration represents a critical step towards aligning global standards in smart outdoor lighting, ensuring that the systems of the future are more sustainable, scalable, and interoperable.
