Hydro-Jonquière, serving 22,000 electricity customers in the Jonquière region, plans to apply for federal funding under the ERITE program to acquire smart meters. The upgrade aims to modernize the utility’s grid, including installing an operating system and software to manage data from the IoT-enabled devices.
While the exact funding request remains undisclosed, it falls within the seven-to-eight-figure range. The deadline for submission is April 2. Hydro-Jonquière has previously replaced 98% of outdated meters, totaling 3.9 million units.
The ERITE program, launched in 2021, supports renewable energy and grid modernization initiatives.
