Four new smart cameras have been installed at North Coast Harbor as part of ongoing efforts to improve safety in the city. This follows the introduction of similar AI-equipped cameras in Public Square and Playhouse Square last year.

The cameras, developed by Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD), use real-time monitoring and can issue alerts to deter suspicious activity. They are monitored by Downtown Cleveland Inc. ambassadors from 7 a.m. to midnight and are also linked to the city’s Real-Time Crime Center.

The expansion comes as Cleveland welcomes its first cruise ship of the 2025 season, marking the earliest arrival on record. The North Coast Harbor area, home to attractions like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Great Lakes Science Center, sees thousands of visitors annually.

More high-tech cameras are expected to be deployed across downtown in the future.
