UK Transport Department to Develop Crisis Response Digital Twin

The UK Department for Transport (DfT) is seeking suppliers to develop a digital twin platform aimed at improving crisis response for transport disruptions. The Crisis Response and Resilience Digital Twin (CRDT), valued at £500,000 (excluding VAT), will integrate AI and advanced analytics to model real-time disruptions and assess their impact.

The platform will enable collaboration between the DfT, other government departments, and local authorities while ensuring secure data sharing. It will use diverse data sources, including sensor networks and satellite imagery, to enhance decision-making during emergencies such as extreme weather, accidents, or geopolitical crises.

Procurement will take place through the Crown Commercial Service’s Spark Dynamic Purchasing System, with the contract notice expected on 26 May 2025. The project is set to run for multiple years, with flexibility for updates as new technologies emerge.
