Highland Council, Aberdeen City Council, and Moray Council have partnered with EV infrastructure provider EasyGo to install 570 new public chargepoints across northern Scotland by 2028. The £300 million, 20-year contract will more than double charging capacity in the region and include maintenance of existing council-owned chargers. The project is backed by over £7 million from Transport Scotland’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund.

In England, Barnet Council has teamed up with Char.gy to deploy 1,000 new public EV chargepoints by 2028, with 500 set to be installed in the next three months. The initiative, partially funded by the government’s On-Street Residential Chargepoint Scheme, aims to improve access for residents without home charging options. Once complete, Barnet will have 2,500 public chargers.
