The Georgia Public Service Commission has approved continued funding for electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, including $52 million for Georgia Power’s Make Ready programme and nearly $6 million for its Community Charging Program.
The initiatives aim to expand EV charger access across the state, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Additionally, a new vehicle-to-everything (V2X) pilot will deploy bidirectional chargers in ten public school districts to support electric school buses and enable power flow back to the grid.
Georgia Power leads both programmes. Similar V2X initiatives are underway in Massachusetts with Resource Innovations and The Mobility House, while Maryland recently became the first U.S. state to formalize V2G interconnection rules based on Vehicle-Grid Integration Council (VGIC) standards.
