The City of Dallas has placed its fourth order for Beam Global EV ARC off-grid, solar-powered electric vehicle charging systems, the San Diego-based manufacturer announced on July 28, 2026. The order covers ten units, which will be deployed in the third quarter of 2026 to support the city’s growing municipal EV fleet. The purchase, made through the U.S. General Services Administration’s Multiple Award Schedule contract, extends a relationship that began with Dallas’s initial EV ARC purchase in April 2025 and marks the city’s fourth separate deployment of the technology.
A Steady Cadence Of Orders Since Early 2025
Dallas began acquiring EV ARC systems in April 2025, then expanded its fleet with a follow-on order of seven units in November 2025, which Beam Global described at the time as the city’s third deployment and fourth overall purchase from the company. The latest ten-unit order, confirmed in Beam Global’s July 2026 release, pushes that count further and signals a pattern of repeat, incremental procurement rather than a single large-scale rollout. Municipal buyers using this approach can scale charging capacity in step with fleet turnover instead of committing to a fixed buildout upfront.
How The EV ARC System Differs From Grid-Tied Charging
Each EV ARC unit generates and stores its own electricity through an integrated solar array and battery pack, allowing it to operate without a connection to the utility grid. Beam Global states the systems require no construction, trenching, electrical permitting, or grid interconnection work, which shortens deployment timelines compared with conventional Level 2 or DC fast charging installations that depend on utility upgrades. The units are also designed to be relocated, giving fleet operators flexibility to shift charging capacity as depot layouts or vehicle assignments change. Beam Global has applied the same off-grid model outside Dallas, including a recent deployment supporting the Metropolitan Area Planning Council’s CommunityEV Carshare pilot in Massachusetts.
Procurement Runs Through A Federal Purchasing Schedule
Dallas made the purchase through Beam Global’s GSA Multiple Award Schedule contract, a pre-negotiated federal vehicle that allows state and local government agencies to buy without running a separate competitive bidding process. Beam Global has said the arrangement, along with a companion Sourcewell contract, is intended to compress procurement timelines for public-sector buyers. City of Dallas purchasing records were not independently reviewed for this article, and per-unit pricing for the ten-system order was not disclosed in the company’s release.
Fleet Electrification Targets Anchor The Purchases
The orders support Dallas’s broader fleet transition goals, which call for all new light-duty vehicles and transit buses to be fully electric by 2030 and the entire municipal fleet to reach 100 percent electrification by 2040, part of a climate action plan aimed at citywide carbon neutrality by 2050. Dallas has previously described its municipal fleet as exceeding 5,000 vehicles, though the city’s most recent public fleet count was not verified independently for this article. The new EV ARC units are intended to charge a mix of vehicles, including electric pickup trucks added to the fleet in recent purchase cycles.
