3 to 5 Nov 2026Greece’s Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) has signed with Itron to upgrade the country’s power grid. The agreement aims to support Greece’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The project includes managing 7.7 million meters and deploying nearly 1 million NB-IoT smart meters to improve efficiency and energy monitoring. Itron will use its cloud-based Meter Data Management system and integrate Microsoft Azure OpenAI for advanced analytics and predictive maintenance.
The SaaS-based approach should reduce upfront costs for HEDNO while ensuring scalable operations.
