The project will be supported by Intellihub, a metering provider serving Australia and New Zealand, which will supply the digital meters and integrate the communication platforms. As part of Hunter Water’s broader strategy to leverage data-driven insights, the Digital Metering Pilot aims to test the effectiveness of digital meters at scale while providing credible evidence of their value to customers.
The program will assess various technologies, such as ultrasonic measurement and pulse loggers, to identify the best solutions for local conditions. By offering detailed and timely water consumption data, it seeks to enable rapid detection of high usage or leaks, helping customers conserve water and reduce costs.
Ultimately, the pilot is expected to provide Hunter Water with enhanced capabilities for data-driven forecasting and decision-making, contributing to more efficient management of the region’s water supplies and assets.
