Cleveland’s CLEANinCLE project, backed by a $500,000 EPA grant secured back in 2022, is now enlisting residents as air ambassadors to create an air-quality dashboard and enhance air quality monitoring. The initiative, led by the city’s health department in partnership with various local organizations, is set to install 30 new sensors, especially in redlined neighborhoods affected by air pollution. Residents, without needing air quality expertise, will contribute to a community-led effort, earning $1,200 for their involvement. The project will allow for citizen engagement in environmental health issues and promises to improve air quality management and public health in Cleveland.
