The U.S. Department of Transportation has allocated $60 million in grants to Arizona, Texas, and Utah to enhance cellular-based vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies as models for nationwide deployment. Maricopa County, Arizona, will use $19.6 million to connect roadside and onboard units in several cities. Texas will focus on V2X applications in the Houston area and College Station, while Utah will extend its projects into Colorado and Wyoming, focusing on safety alerts for varied road conditions. These efforts aim to reduce roadway fatalities and improve traffic efficiency across these states.
