Bluecurrent, a smart metering and data services company in Australasia, has entered into an agreement to acquire Melbourne-based Metropolis Metering, which specializes in the commercial, industrial, and embedded network markets.
This acquisition is part of Bluecurrent’s strategic expansion to enhance its service offerings and market presence. The agreement is subject to certain conditions, with completion expected in early December 2024. Financial details of the transaction have not been publicly disclosed. This move follows Bluecurrent’s rebranding from Vector Metering after Vector Limited sold a 50% stake in the company to investment vehicles managed by QIC Private Capital in 2023, in a deal valued at A$2.3 billion. The joint venture positioned Bluecurrent as one of Australasia’s largest metering platforms, managing over 2.4 million meters across Australia and New Zealand.
