The City of Narbonne in France has launched a nine-year performance-based public contract titled Narb’ON – Lumière sur ma ville to modernize its public lighting infrastructure. The project, led by Bouygues Énergies & Services, includes the replacement of over 9,000 lighting points with energy-efficient LED luminaires and the integration of the Citybox remote management system. Developed by Bouygues, this system allows real-time, adaptive control of individual lights based on street activity, events, or environmental considerations.
By 2026, more than 4,000 lights will be replaced, aiming to reduce energy consumption by 41% initially and up to 87% upon project completion. Traffic signals at 13 intersections will also be modernized with remote management to enhance road safety and flow. Additionally, the lighting will highlight key heritage sites including the Town Hall, Les Halles, and Narbonne-Plage, with custom luminaires designed and produced locally by Technilum. The project also includes a social inclusion component, allocating over 10% of services to local SMEs and creating new employment opportunities.
