Córdoba Deploys Smart Sensor to Prevent Suquía River Floods

Córdoba (Argentina) has installed its first smart flood sensor in the Suquía River as part of the Smart River initiative led by CorLab and BID Lab. Developed by local startup Pampa 4, the system combines IoT sensors with LoRaWAN connectivity to monitor water levels in real time and trigger alerts when thresholds are exceeded.

The device, placed at a high-risk point on the Costanera, is designed to activate protective barriers, display warnings on electronic signs, and issue siren alerts. Data is integrated into the city’s smart management platform for coordinated emergency response.

The project, carried out in partnership with the National University of Córdoba and Civil Defense, marks the start of a wider deployment to strengthen flood prevention and protect residents against hydrological risks.
