Severn Trent has appointed Netmore Group to deploy and manage the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) network for one million smart water meters across more than 20 counties in the UK.
The £200 million AMP8 contract, which also covers sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy, includes an initial three-year term and builds on Severn Trent’s Green Recovery Programme. Netmore will roll out a dual LoRaWAN® and Narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) network, supported by vendors Itron and Diehl for meters, Vodafone IoT for NB-IoT connectivity, and Network Plus Services for installation.
The program aims to reduce household water leakage by 16% and cut consumption by 7% by 2030, while providing customers with greater insight into water usage. Netmore, already the UK’s largest LoRaWAN operator, expects the project to expand its coverage to 43 counties and support more than three million smart meters nationwide.
