Rhode Island’s $153M Smart Meter Grid Modernization

Rhode Island Energy is to deploy 530,000 Landis+Gyr Revelo smart meters operating on a Wi-SUN network across its service area, following regulatory approval for a $153 million grid modernization initiative. The aim is to integrate renewable energies and enhance Rhode Island’s climate goals, featuring advanced metering with grid edge sensing and computing capabilities for improved load management and consumer engagement. The rollout is set to kick off in 2025 and take three years to complete.
