Marsden Moor Launches Smart Wildfire Detection Initiative

Wildfires electric detection sensors are being installed on Marsden Moor, West Yorkshire by The National Trust after seven fires this year destroyed nearly two square miles of moorland. Partnering with Berlin-based Dryad Networks, these sensors are the first of their kind in Britain. They detect changes in hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and volatile organic compounds, alerting firefighters of exact locations quickly. The pilot will install a few hundreds of sensors across 150 hectares of the Moor.
