Baltimore Schools to Deploy AI Gun Detection on 7,000 Cameras

In an effort to prevent gun violence in schools, Baltimore County Public Schools will install gun detection software on 7,000 security cameras. The Board of Education approved the $1.4 million, 2-year contract for the software. The software, made by Virginia-based Omnilert, uses artificial intelligence to detect guns in real time. If a gun is detected, an alert will be sent to school officials and police.
