In the UAE, the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) has installed 91,155 smart water meters across Sharjah as part of its plan to install 125,000 by 2024, enhancing the city’s water management. These smart meters improve accuracy, allow for real-time monitoring of consumption, and detect leaks or unusual water usage, promoting water conservation. This initiative aligns with Sharjah’s digital transformation goals under the guidance of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, aiming to improve infrastructure, efficiency, and reduce water loss. Upgrades are ongoing in several areas, with plans to expand further.
