Vandalism to low-traffic neighbourhood (LTN) infrastructure, including bollards and cameras, has cost London councils over £850,000 since 2020. These measures, aimed at reducing air pollution and ensuring road safety, have faced damages such as cut cables and defaced signs. Hackney council faced the largest repair bill at nearly £400,000, while Lambeth spent £310,000. Though LTNs promote walking and cycling and have gained support, they’ve also stirred controversy. Critics argue against the recent government review of LTNs, seeing it as a departure from critical environmental commitments.
