Anglian Water has extended its contracts with british telecommunications company Arqiva and its alliance partners Kier and Clancy for another five years to complete its smart meter roll-out by 2030. This follows the successful installation of one million smart meters, which have helped identify and fix over 300,000 leaks across the region. The program allows customers to monitor their water usage at an hourly level, promoting better consumption habits and identifying leaks early to save costs.
The new agreement will see the continued installation of more than 1,500 smart meters daily, as Anglian Water upgrades all meters in the region. Arqiva’s network will play a key role in connecting the smart meters to Anglian Water’s systems, ensuring consistent, accurate data collection, which is critical for managing water consumption and reducing wastage.
This smart meter initiative, one of the largest in the UK, is part of Anglian Water’s broader strategy to enhance water sustainability. By providing detailed usage data, the company aims to influence customer behavior and further reduce water loss through leaks.
