Nokian Vesi Oy has awarded Skanska, a Sweden-based multinational construction and development company, a €35M (approximately SEK 400M) contract to build a cutting-edge wastewater treatment plant in Nokia, Finland.

The ambitious project includes the construction of four key facilities: a process plant, a monitoring building, a garage and repair facility, and an equalization pumping station. Spanning approximately 12,000 square meters, the plant is designed to meet the growing city’s future wastewater treatment demands and urban development needs.

The new facility will utilize advanced purification technologies, including mechanical, biological, and chemical processes, to significantly improve nitrogen and pollutant removal. These innovations promise a more efficient and sustainable approach to wastewater management.

Construction began in late 2024 and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027. This initiative highlights Nokian Vesi’s commitment to environmental sustainability and meeting the needs of an expanding community.
