The Burriana City Council in Spain has started a comprehensive renovation of the town’s public street lighting system. The project involves replacing over 6,500 fixtures with high-efficiency LED technology, expected to reduce energy consumption by 43.5%.
The upgrade, carried out by a joint venture between Ferrovial and Endesa, includes a remote management system to monitor outages in real time and optimize energy use. Work began this week and is scheduled for completion by summer, covering urban areas, beaches, industrial zones, and residential neighborhoods.
The initiative is part of the broader “Burriana Reluce” campaign, which also features heritage lighting projects, such as the illumination of the Town Hall and the Basilica of El Salvador, enhancing the historic city center. The upgrade aims to improve lighting quality while cutting costs and reducing emissions.
