Yorkshire Water is investing £16 million this year to cut leaks in its clean water network, aiming for a 15% reduction by 2030. The funding will support various initiatives, including:
£2.5m for advanced modelling and demand analysis
£2.5m for acoustic leak detection technology
£5m for pressure management and network optimization
£3m for repairs
£3m to hire 100 additional staff
This forms part of a wider £38m five-year plan to improve water efficiency. The company is also replacing over 1,000km of pipelines by 2030, exploring new water sources, and constructing reservoirs in Harton and Scotton. Following a dry start to 2025, Yorkshire Water is closely monitoring supplies and encouraging public leak reports.
