The City of Fairlawn has begun deploying Ohio’s first 100% connected vehicle corridor along Market Street, aimed at improving road safety and reducing congestion. The project, supported by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Drive Ohio, uses cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) technology developed by Applied Information in partnership with Path Master.
The system integrates Glance connected vehicle technology at intersections, in first responder and municipal fleet vehicles, and on Metro RTA buses to enable transit signal priority. Through the TravelSafely app, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians receive real-time alerts for school zones, red-light running, and approaching emergency vehicles. Installation began in August and is expected to conclude in September, marking a significant step toward smarter transportation infrastructure in Ohio.
