Vodafone España has been awarded a 12-year contract worth €3.1 million by the Diputación de Córdoba, through its water utility EMPROACSA, to digitalize the complete water cycle in the eastern part of the province. The project will cover 23,600 households across nine municipalities, including Adamuz, Bujalance, Montoro, and Villa del Río.
The initiative will introduce smart water meters with remote reading capabilities, enabling more accurate monitoring of consumption, early detection of leaks, and prevention of fraudulent manipulations. It is expected to improve efficiency in water distribution, reduce energy use in pumping stations, and lower the volume of unregistered water.
This modernization forms part of Spain’s PERTE for the digitalization of the water cycle, which is supported by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and has already allocated €300 million to over 50 projects nationwide. The Córdoba deployment will integrate Vodafone’s Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, providing centralized data management and remote device control.
The service aims to enhance operational transparency, support environmental goals, and create technically qualified jobs in the region.
