EchoTwin AI, a U.S.-based startup building AI-driven infrastructure intelligence, has closed an $8 million seed round led by Metis Ventures, with additional participation from strategic and financial investors.
The startup aims to convert municipal vehicle fleets into real-time sensor platforms that feed into a dynamic digital twin of the city. Its system is designed to detect infrastructure and compliance issues proactively, enabling predictive maintenance and automated workflows.
One deployment of note is in Abu Dhabi, where the Department of Municipalities and Transport is integrating EchoTwin’s “CityVision One” edge hardware and “CityWide” platform into its street-sweeping fleet. These vehicles now actively monitor road conditions, cleanliness, and safety hazards as part of a “Smart Sweep AI” project. In its early stage, the system reportedly flagged tens of thousands of issues over just 60 days.
The funding will support EchoTwin’s global expansion and accelerate adoption in the fast-growing smart cities sector, which is projected to reach $4 trillion by 2030 with annual growth of 18–20 percent.
