California’s firefighters are leveraging ALERTCalifornia AI, a system developed by the University of San Diego, to combat wildfires. Using over 1,000 cameras and AI technology from DigitalPath, the system detects and distinguishes fire smoke from other phenomena, alerting firefighters promptly. These cameras, combined with drones and airplanes, provide visuals and gather data for a comprehensive understanding of fire-prone areas. Since its launch in July, the system reportedly quickly detected a fire in Cleveland National Forest, leading to its swift containment.
