The municipality of Villajoyosa, located in Alicante, Spain, has installed 18 smart cameras and sensors across key areas as part of its Smart City Master Plan. The initiative, which began in June 2024 with the deployment of an antenna network, aims to gather real-time data to enhance public services, including traffic management, parking availability, and crowd monitoring in public spaces. The devices are strategically placed at high-traffic locations.
By the end of 2025, the city plans to expand the network to over 50 devices, covering the entire municipality. The collected data will support decision-making on issues like mobility, public safety, waste management, pollution, and carbon footprint reduction. This project aligns with Villajoyosa’s broader goal of becoming a smart city, leveraging technology to improve urban living and sustainability.
