The government has announced plans to establish a flood risk detection system using CCTV, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in preparation for the upcoming typhoon and heavy rain season.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety held a task force meeting on summer disaster preparedness to discuss preventive measures. Agencies will conduct biweekly inspections until early June before the rainy season begins.

The Ministry of Environment will pilot smart CCTV systems for faster flood detection and enhance AI-based flood forecasting. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will deploy IoT sensors on slopes to monitor road conditions and expand evacuation facilities in underground passages to prevent flooding risks.

Additionally, authorities will focus on reinforcing infrastructure in areas affected by recent wildfires to prevent secondary disasters. The Forest Service will conduct emergency assessments for landslide risks in fire-damaged regions and improve evacuation protocols and recovery efforts.
