Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has added a public tender for smart water meters to its 2025 procurement plan. The project includes the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of smart meters and associated software and network infrastructure, with plans to replace existing mechanical meters across all governorates. The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) will oversee the bidding process, restricted to pre-qualified vendors. A technical committee has finalized specifications to ensure compatibility with local climate conditions. The initiative supports national efforts to reduce water waste and cut desalination costs.
