The Valencia City Council has approved a €798,646 initiative to modernize its urban water cycle through digital technologies. Part of Spain’s broader PERTE Saneamiento program, funded by the EU’s Next Generation funds, the project aims to enhance water resource management using IoT, artificial intelligence, and big data tools.

It will cover the entire cycle, from water collection to treatment and distribution, enabling real-time monitoring and regulatory compliance. The plan includes remote metering, improved citizen services, and integration with the national Water Observatory, all designed to increase efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and support Valencia’s transition to a Smart City. No specific vendors have been named at this stage.
