SWARCO UK & Ireland installs intelligent flood warning systems for Warrington Borough Council

Kurrant News Desk · ·1 min read

SWARCO UK & Ireland has deployed intelligent flood warning systems at two flood-prone locations in Warrington Hawleys Lane in Dallam and Burford Lane near Lymm. The systems combine flood detection sensors, LED Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS), and signal controller inputs to automatically alert drivers and close roads during flooding events.

When surface water levels rise, the sensors activate warning signs and set nearby traffic lights to red, preventing motorists from entering flooded areas. The systems are connected to SWARCO’s smart management platform, allowing Warrington Borough Council to monitor conditions remotely and receive real-time alerts.

The automated system aims to help mitigate risks to people and property by keeping drivers informed and discouraging unsafe travel through floodwaters.
