Day one of the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona has come to an end.
I wasn't able to walk much around the venue because we were filming The Smart Deal at our booth, but I'm here with Pierre Dubuisson, who was able to walk around the expo.
What did you see?
Tell me.
Basically there are three things which caught my attention.
The first one is it was the same as last year, but basically the number of companies in the mobility industry, the number of cameras, AI applications, but again, nothing new here, just the same as last year.
There are two things which were a bit more new, I would say.
The first one is the number of companies and mainly startups actually operating in the EV charging point management sector.
What will be interesting in the future is to understand who makes it and who doesn’t.
Now what really surprised me was more related to context here in Spain, in Valencia, in Barcelona.
Given the floods.
I would have expected a few companies and startups addressing the issue of flooding.
There were not so many.
But there is a use case.
At least it seems to be.
But we don't see any solution actually taking off.
So let's see why, but hopefully it will take off in the future.
Overall interesting day?
Yeah.
Many startups, many companies, honestly great day.
Perfect.
But now it's time to recharge our batteries because we still have a very hectic day tomorrow.
We have the launch of Kurrant Insights, and we also have the Deal Reveal.
So you know what to do.
